August is HOT AND . . .

Hello again. July has come and gone and August is most definitely upon us - in all it's heat and humidity too! Yet, God has been at work and we have been doing our best to be involved. Amazingly enough it's not difficult to be involved in God's work.

So often we find ourselves asking over and over again for the Lord to show us what He would have us be involved in . . do . . . accomplish for His glory. And I think more often than most we miss hearing His still small voice that says, "Hey, I want you to love this world. I want you to, not litter, enjoy your family, share your time, love the poor, hug a friend, give a little more money to someone in need, go ahead and get rid of that "thing" you have not used in over ten years, write a poem to me, send a card to a friend, kiss your wife/husband a little more, share a testimony in church, share your story to that guy/gal you see at Starbucks everyday, plant a tree, and so on . . .

Amazingly enough I think we miss the "work" that we could be involved in more and more if we would just "be" a little more attentive! You see, I think the "being" does come first, because the "doing" is always going to be there. If we are creatures in the art of "being" in a love relationship with God, we will one and at the same time, fall in love with what He is "doing". And I think, in turn, "get dirty" while being in His will. In short, let's keep falling more and more in love with the Creator and it will lead us to loving His creation the way He loves it and we will eventually not be able to stop ourselves from being involved in His work.

And speaking of His work . . .
Lighthouse has been all over the map this past month. In July, Pastor Tim Whetstone spoke at the North Arkansas Nazarene District Youth Camps. I had a tremendous time sharing, listening, getting to know some great people, while having a ton of fun in the sun! If you would like to check out more from the camp go to: http://www.blogger.com/www.myspace.com/nark_district_camp_2007

The Campbell family has been at NASCAR, and the Drag Races with youth from the church. If you would like to know more about that please write us. Right now the youth group is about 3/4 of the way done with their "drag truck" project. If this sounds like something you would like to be involved in, please don't hesitate to contact us.

We have had "Glory Barn" at Lighthouse which ironically we called, "Glory House"! Our times have always been filled with food, fun, music, and lots of laughs, while centered around God's presence. Please come join us next month for another great Glory time! Or come and hang out with us every Wednesday Night at Moe's!

Finally, it is with a bitter/sweet emotional state that I write my last blog for Lighthouse. Danielle, Natalie, and I have accepted a new missionary contract through World Mission (General Church of the Nazarene). We will be moving to Kansas City this Sunday, August 12th. Therefore, this will be our last Sunday as worship leaders, and my last as one of the Associate Pastors. We have loved being a part of Lighthouse for over 1 year now and we would love to stay in the Daphne area, but we know that this is where the Lord is leading and we have no question that God is in control of both where we are headed and the future of Lighthouse.

We will be moving to Kansas City for four months of missionary training and over the next few months we will be interviewing with different world areas. As soon as we know where we are headed for sure, we will let our "home church"- Lighthouse know and they will post it here on the web site. Thank you Lighthouse, thank you Alabama South District, thank you everyone. We love you and most definitely will miss you all.

Grace and peace to us all as we go "further up and further in" His kingdom service.

In His love,
Pastor Tim
